Colophon

This site is a single Python script that turns markdown into what you’re reading. No framework, no client-side rendering, no analytics, no cookies, no CDN. Five self-hosted font files and one small script for hover previews, copy buttons, and keyboard navigation (g then h/n/p/r/w/a).

The theme is “The Observatory Pad.” The paper is a photographic plate — blue-white, ruled with a chart graticule and réseau crosses, the tiny etched marks astronomers used to measure star positions on glass. Body text is set in STIX Two Text, the typeface of the astrophysics journals. Headings are osifont, an implementation of ISO 3098, the lettering standard for technical drawings. Tables and code are IBM Plex Mono. Math is typeset by KaTeX at build time.

Links encode where they go: cobalt stays inside the notebook, amber ↗ leaves the dome. Notes carry an apparent magnitude — ✧ seedling, ✦ growing, ★ evergreen — and their revision history comes from git, not from memory.

Built by hand, on purpose.
